The Heart of Our Mission: From Crisis to Curriculum
This mission is deeply personal. For 20 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and School Social Worker, I have been dedicated to the safety and emotional health of children. I know the vital importance of safety nets for vulnerable kids and the amazing work done by first responders.
Our book, AJ and the Constellation of Kindness, was co-created with my son, AJ, and inspired by our journey. AJ came into my permanent care as his mother after Sheriffs were called to his home for a welfare check when he was just two-and-a-half years old. His story is a testament to the fact that every child deserves a secure environment and the tools (like the SEL lessons in our book) to heal and thrive. I have also written a companion guide, offering K-5 age adapted lessons for social emotional learning for each chapter.
